Dad's Outdoor Classroom

Sometimes when you ask a question in our home, you get more than what you bargained for! As it was in this case....
.
While watching the Olympic track and field events one night, the kids kept asking why one of the runners always got a head start on the track. "It's not fair to the other runners!" they would say.
.
They still didn't quite get it after I tried to explain that it only looked like they were getting a head start. I asked Chip to try and explain it better than I could.
.
Oops.
.
That's when he pushed pause and said, "Everybody outside!!"

They may have whined and groaned on their way out.... but it ended up being fun,

AND...

they finally understood it perfectly!

Tracy, You have to admit, they will never forget this lesson.
By the way, how did you make your blog so awesome? Will you teach me how? ~Heidi

That is so funny, and priceless. Good for Chip! It took me awhile to figure that whole concept of spacing out...because in X-country everyone starts on the same line...what's a couple of feet compared to 3 miles?

I can just hear the moaning and groaning and "Wait, I don't care anymore if I know." And can't you see the eager hands fly up if the question ever gets asked in one of their classes at school!

Oh, PS...how do you do that thing where the links to other peoples' blogs show when they posted last? That's cool.

Thanks everyone! Heidi - go to "cutest blogs on the block.com" and follow the instructions - very, very simple- let me know if it works. Kerri - It's a new thing that blogger does - it's SO cool. Go to layout and add a page element (it's called a gadget I think now) - you will see it there. It's not hard to figure out - you'll love it!
